Hot pink flowers top dramatic black satin stems.

If you're looking for an unusual hydrangea with bright color, this is the plant for you!  Mophead flowers emerge green and peach, then mature to a hot pink.  Black satin stems add to the fun.  Flower color can be pushed to purple-blue with the addition of aluminum sulfate.   The distinctive black stems are interesting even when the plant is not in bloom, and when it does bloom, look out!  Bold, bright flowers really light up the summer garden. Add aluminum sulfate to the soil to encourage blue flower color.

Maintenance Notes

Plant in moist, well drained soil.  Supplemental water may be needed in hot weather.  May need part shade in very hot climates.  Prune as needed immediately after flowering.  Note that heavy pruning is usually not needed.  It may need winter protection in colder climates.  Flowers may be shifted to blue in more acidic soils or with the addition of alumninum sulfate to the soil.
