A spectacular new fragrant variety of begonia which makes the ideal hanging basket plant. It produces an abundance of scented double flowers in white with soft pink accents during the summer months.

This plant is a great solution for shade! Shade gardeners love begonias for their elegant, colorful blossoms but have long wished they possessed that once-elusive trait—a pleasant fragrance. Double Delight™ Appleblossom begonia exudes a sweet citrus-like fragrance from its large, abundant, white and soft pink bicolor blossoms on cascading stems. It performs well in full sun in the Northeast; southern growers will need to provide some afternoon shade. Increased sun tolerance makes this begonia versatile for use in containers, hanging baskets, window boxes and monoculture containers.

Maintenance Notes

These begonias prefer moist but not wet, well-draining soil. These are not hardy, but the corms can be dug up, stored for the winter and replanted the next spring. Plants will perform best with limited overhead watering, early enough in the day to dry completely before nightfall. Unnecessarily wet foliage at night can promote disease issues. Otherwise, the plants are largely carefree.  A controlled or slow-release plant food at planting will help them have peak performance.

Uses Notes

Great in hanging baskets and patio planters.

A new bicolor white and soft pink selection with an abundance of cascading, double, pleasantly fragrant blossoms. Good vigor, branching, flower count and sun tolerance make this an outstanding begonia.
