Maintenance Notes

While newer Argyranthemum are much more heat tolerant than older varieties, they will still do best with cool night temperatures. Our varieties have been selected to flower continuously without deadheading. If you do live in a hot climate the plants may flush out of bloom if the night temperatures are regularly staying in the high 70's or above. The plants should continue to do fine, give them a trim using a sharp pair of scissors or pruning shears (think of it as giving your plant a haircut). This will help induce more branching and fresh growth and the plants will be at their best when night temperatures drop and the plants begin to bloom again.

An application of fertilizer or compost on garden beds and regular fertilization of plants in pots will help ensure the best possible performance.

Pinching and Growth Regulators

No pinch needed for 4-5" pots planted after mid-March, when planted prior to mid-March a pinch will be beneficial. Single plant 6" and gallons and all 8" and larger should be pinched 1-2 weeks after transplant. 5-10 ppm Sumagic spray or a 1-3 ppm Bonzi drench will help control growth. 'Sugar Baby' and 'Molimba Mini's' are sensitive to PGRs and should be regulated with caution.

Pest and Disease Management

General pest and diseasepractices as listed in notes.

Grower Tips

Grower Tips for Argyranthemum
-Low light, tight spacing, and wet foliage will lead to disease.
-'Molimba First Blush' will turn white with temperatures above 70 F.
-High light is essential in the production of Molimba series.
-Argyranthemum stems elongate under long day conditions, for small containers plant when long day conditions exist.
-Liner trays can be hard to hold under long-day conditions, these trays should be transplanted quickly.

Low light, tight spacing and wet foliage will lead to disease. Molimba Mini varieties should need little to no PGR's.

-Requires long day conditions or very highlight to flower.
