We’re currently looking for an R&D Manager to join our team and work with us as we continue to achieve our goals. The R&D Manager will provide leadership, direction and support to the R&D team. You’ll work with sales, marketing and operations to establish and implement company goals for continuous improvement in plant quality, superior genetics, new product categories and paths to new and existing markets.

Essential Responsibilities include:

  • Manage a team of R&D professionals: implement departmental policies, establish weekly planning meetings, prioritize work flow, oversee the R&D budget and provide timely and accurate training.
  • Generate ideas for new products and research feasibility in terms of profitability, resource availability and compliance with regulations.
  • Manage the direction for new plant introduction, new plant identification and program development
  • Lead the product development process through prototyping and pre-production phases, owning the transition from R&D to Marketing and Production.

  • 10 or more years of horticultural or greenhouse experience including research and sales

We are currently seeking candidates for a Retail Account Manager to be responsible for sales of finished products (ready to sell potted annuals, etc…) to retail garden centers in the Northeast.

Candidates for this opening will work from a home office and must be located in one of the following states: NH, MA, CT, ME or RI. This job requires 50 – 70% travel to clients and potential accounts.

The Retail Account Manager will be responsible for all sales and presentations of company products and programs within a defined territory. As a key member of our sales team, you will be expected to be conversant with industry trends and develop relationships with current and prospective customers. The Payroll / Benefits Administrator will ensure that our employee’s payroll and benefits are accurately calculated and tracked. Responsibilities include: generating semi-monthly payroll using the ADP Run platform, computing regular/overtime pay, preparing internal and external reports, assisting with onboarding, preparing final pay calculations and COBRA paperwork, fielding and researching employee’s questions and updating associated records. The Shipping Supervisor will be responsible for planning, supervising and coordinating the work activities and resources necessary for shipping our products in accordance with cost, quality and quantity specifications


  • Plan and organize each day’s assignments for shipping personnel while maintaining a balance between sorting and pulling
  • Determine staffing needs based on demands and historical data
  • Produce the necessary paperwork for product pulling assignments for shipping personnel. Verify the accuracy and quality of orders.

  • Communicate progress to shipping manager regarding status of work, labor and equipment needs

The Research & Development department at Pleasant View Gardens connects with top industry breeders to identify and grow unique varieties of annuals, perennials, edible and fragrance plants. Our summer internship program will allow students to gain significant experience in variety trials and display garden operations. Interns will learn skills and techniques which will help them improve their understanding of research and development and build a foundation which will benefit them in their careers.

What Interns will Experience

Our internship program has been designed to give students the opportunity to immerse themselves in the horticulture/agriculture industry; using hands-on, real-world applications and experience with new technologies that play a crucial role in our success.

Variety Trials:

  • Field Trial Preparation  equipment and safety training, machine assisted pot-filling, container and in-ground field prep, fertilizer and drip irrigation principles
  • Field Trial Installation– plant genera identification, trial labeling, transplanting, establishment-phase growing, field organization
  • Field Trial Maintenance– pest/pathogen/weed management, fertilizer and drip irrigation maintenance, overall crop management techniques
  • Field Trial Evaluation– qualitative analysis of trial codes, photo documentation, greenhouse stock management, virus testing, propagation

The Maintenance Technician will perform mechanical equipment maintenance and repairs for the overall maintenance of the facilities, grounds and equipment at Pleasant View Gardens. You will also address maintenance tasks and responsibilities for the greenhouse operating systems. All tasks are expected to be completed in an organized, timely and cost effective manner. To succeed in this role, you should be a self motivated team player with a positive outlook, solid work ethic and strong communication skills.

Requirements and Job Responsibilities:

  • Repair and maintenance of greenhouse facilities
  • Follow OSHA regulation and company safety policies and procedures
  • Work cooperatively and collaborate with all levels of the organization.
  • General knowledge and exposure to industrial electrical work
  • Ability to construct office and operational areas, from stud walls to drywall
  • Knowledge of plumbing and irrigation systems
  • Exposure to equipment operation and maintenance (forklifts and scissor lifts, etc…)
  • Required to be on a rotating schedule (off hours and/or weekends) to respond to events, emergencies and incidents.

The 2nd shift Shipping Crew member will work individually or as a part of a team to select quality plants to be shipped to our customers. Shipping Crew members are expected to maintain a high level of productivity, while sustaining a motivated and work-conscientious attitude.

The hours for this position will be:

January – April: 4:00 pm – 2:00 am Saturday through Wednesday

April – June: 12:00 noon – 9:00 pm Sunday through Thursday


  • Select healthy plant material for shipping
  • Pull Orders
  • Pack Orders (on cages/boxing)
  • Review shipping paperwork and tags
  • Verify and count plant material
  • Daily cleanup of tools and work area
  • House cleaning (washing benches, greenhouse walls and floors, storage areas)

  • Broad knowledge and experience in customer and personal services, production and processing, and clerical skills
  • Excellent skills in effective communication, active listening, attention to detail, critical thinking and coordination
