The Human Resources Manager at Pleasant View Gardens is responsible for the development of a strategic human resources plan with long range and short term initiatives that contribute to PVG’s goals and objectives. You will actively partner with other members of management to integrate human resources priorities with the organization’s goals. Through your knowledge of federal and state employment laws, you will anticipate and reduce potential risks and prevent human resource issues. Must be a visible advocate and agent of change to create a culture of excellence that utilizes industry best practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

As the manager of a two person staff, you will be responsible for:

  • Administering company policies and procedures
  • Overseeing the department budget
  • OSHA Compliance
  • Coordinating the H2A and International Intern programs
  • Serving on the Leadership Team
  • Manage all Employee Functions/Events
  • Employee Relations: advisement/counsel regarding company policies/procedures, programs, conflict resolution
  • Serving as the resident adviser for all International Interns assigned to PVG
  • Payroll / Benefits: Assurance that all functions of payroll are being met accurately/timely by HR Staff member
  • Managing company benefits and insuring compliance.
  • Responsible for the oversight of HR Systems including: Ascentis Software / Novatime (time and attendance), ADP (Payroll) and PICAS (Labor Tracking)

Administration

  • All Leaves of Absence: FMLA, Short and long term disability, non-FMLA leave etc.
  • Administer unemployment and workers’ compensation claims
  • Legal compliance as related to labor regulations
  • Assurance that all personnel driver’s files are being kept accurately and in compliance

Staffing and Recruitment

  • Direct the recruitment, selection and placement for new hires
  • Direct, formulate, recommend and implement a comprehensive wage and salary program which encompasses all positions
  • Serving as the contact/facilitator for agencies providing temporary labor
  • Assurance that all recruitment functions are being conducted by HR Staff member

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent oral communication and written skills, as well as interpersonal skills to interface with all levels of the company
  • Knowledge of multiple human resources disciplines; knowledge of federal and state employment and benefit laws
  • Visibility requires maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image

  • Experience implementing an HRIS System.

Education and Experience Requirements:

The Shipping Crew Leader will assist the Shipping Supervisor in overseeing the activity and efficiency of shipping crew members. You will coordinate the workflow of daily shipping activities and guide crew members to achieve quality and shipping goals. Encourage teamwork while problem solving.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate crew member tasks
  • Use high level of efficiency in sorting pulled material
  • Maintain balance between efficient performance and quality product
  • Track crew’s labor and attendance in Novatime
  • Continuous development and training of crew members
  • Select healthy plant material for shipping
  • Clean plant material (deadheading, remove leaves, replace sub-par material)
  • Pull, prepare and pack orders on cages or boxing
  • Prepare the shipping paperwork and tags

As a CDL A Driver at Pleasant View Gardens, you’ll join a Logistics Team that is dedicated to excellent customer service by delivering products in a professional and efficient manner.

Drivers will operate vehicles safely, and keep organized and accurate records. Inform Logistics Coordinator and/or appropriate Pleasant View Gardens (PVG) staff when problems arise; meet personal goals and the business goals of Pleasant View Gardens. Communicate in an effective & professional manner with appropriate PVG staff and customers

  • Map out and organize daily delivery routes and follow delivery schedules
  • Safely operate the equipment necessary (cages, load bars, straps, pallet jacks, maps and GPS units) for successful delivery of orders to Pleasant View’s customers
  • Unload trucks when returning from runs; load vehicles when necessary
  • Complete and keep DOT logs, records and run sheets up-to-date
  • Document shortages and discrepancies and provide this information in a timely manner to appropriate logistic team member
  • Establish, maintain and strengthen professional communication with customers

We’re looking for a Maintenance Technician to join our team! The Maintenance Technician will perform mechanical equipment maintenance and repairs for the overall maintenance of the facilities, grounds and equipment at Pleasant View Gardens. You will also address maintenance tasks and responsibilities for the greenhouse operating systems. All tasks are expected to be completed in an organized, timely and cost effective manner. To succeed in this role, you should be a self motivated team player with a positive outlook, solid work ethic and strong communication skills.

Requirements and job responsibilities:

  • General knowledge and exposure to industrial electrical work
  • Ability to construct office and operational areas, from stud walls to drywall
  • Knowledge of plumbing and irrigation systems
  • Exposure to equipment operation and maintenance (forklifts and scissor lifts, etc…)
  • Repair and maintenance of greenhouse facilities

The Transportation Dispatcher plays a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of our product to customers! Reporting to the Transportation Supervisor, you’ll work with the drivers to plan and organize efficient route deliveries in accordance with the DOT regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate orders and create route solutions utilizing necessary tools to ensure best shipping methods
  • Determine staffing needs based on demands and historical and forecasted data
  • Manage and track labor and time clock reports to ensure correct payroll
  • Produce necessary paperwork for delivery of route assignments for transportation personnel on a timely basis
  • Monitor deliveries from drivers including direct, seasonal and 3rd party associates and communicate any issues with late deliveries, etc.
  • Supervise labor and manage time clock reports to ensure accurate scans and the workload is evenly distributed between transportation personnel
  • Responsible for keeping drivers informed about scheduling, labor planning and routes
  • Ensure appropriate training is completed with drivers including new drivers
  • Assist with conducting monthly Safety Tailgate meetings
  • Weekly planning with Transportation Supervisor to organize the flow of work, staffing needs and delivery schedule.
  • Contact customers to provide notification of delivery, verify address and confirm directions. Obtain customer feedback regarding PVG’s service, drivers, and claims and quality of plant material.
  • Coordinate with necessary internal departments to ensure communication regarding delivery of material shipped by PVG (Sales, CQIC, Shipping and Customer Relations).
  • Create and provide drivers with load lists, reports, run sheets with
  • Participate in weekly vehicle and equipment damage inspections and communicate with maintenance or vendors regarding maintenance or repairs.
  • Complete and keep DOT logs, records and run sheets up to date.

  • Knowledge and aptitude of DOT HOS and other laws pertaining to CDL Drivers.

The Production Coordinator works closely with the production team to organize the flow and timing of production tasks for maximum efficiency. You’ll work closely with our growing team to establish quality guidelines and crop placement. The successful candidate will encourage teamwork and problem solving among the crew members.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily reporting to Production Supervisor to determine status of tasks, daily goals, priorities, and process changes. Follow-up at day’s end to measure performance

  • Daily communication with other Operations personnel
  • Work as part of the crew when in between tasks and during off peak seasons
  • Ensures that daily time sheets have been recorded, collected & processed and that job codes are accurate.
