The Human Resources Manager at Pleasant View Gardens is responsible for the development of a strategic human resources plan with long range and short term initiatives that contribute to PVG’s goals and objectives. You will actively partner with other members of management to integrate human resources priorities with the organization’s goals. Through your knowledge of federal and state employment laws, you will anticipate and reduce potential risks and prevent human resource issues. Must be a visible advocate and agent of change to create a culture of excellence that utilizes industry best practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

As the manager of a two person staff, you will be responsible for:

  • Administering company policies and procedures
  • Overseeing the department budget
  • OSHA Compliance
  • Coordinating the H2A and Intern programs
  • Serving on the Leadership Team
  • Manage all Employee Functions/Events
  • Employee Relations: advisement/counsel regarding company policies/procedures, programs, conflict resolution
  • Serving as the resident adviser for all Interns assigned to PVG
  • Payroll / Benefits: Assurance that all functions of payroll are being met accurately/timely by HR Staff member
  • Managing company benefits and ensuring compliance.
  • Responsible for the oversight of HR Systems including: Ascentis Software / Novatime (time and attendance), ADP (Payroll) and PICAS (Labor Tracking)

Administration

  • All Leaves of Absence: FMLA, Short and long term disability, non-FMLA leave etc.
  • Administer unemployment and workers’ compensation claims
  • Legal compliance as related to labor regulations
  • Assurance that all personnel driver’s files are being kept accurately and in compliance

Staffing and Recruitment

  • Direct the recruitment, selection and placement for new hires
  • Direct, formulate, recommend and implement a comprehensive wage and salary program which encompasses all positions
  • Serving as the contact/facilitator for agencies providing temporary labor
  • Assurance that all recruitment functions are being conducted by HR Staff member

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent oral communication and written skills, as well as interpersonal skills to interface with all levels of the company
  • Knowledge of multiple human resources disciplines; knowledge of federal and state employment and benefit laws
  • Visibility requires maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image
  • Requires a high-energy, ambitious, positive, process improvement, data-driven and detail oriented individual with outstanding customer service, communication, presentation and teamwork skills
  • Experience implementing an HRIS System.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in human resources or related field
  • A minimum of 8 years of human resources management and leadership experience
  • Certified SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred
  • A generalist background with thorough knowledge and competence in all human resources functions
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook

The Product Manager will be responsible for guiding the direction of new product introductions and existing product line management. You will work directly with R&D, Sales, Marketing, Production, and Finance to create new products and programs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Analyze product specifications, manage product life cycle, recommend new product ideas and packaging offerings
  • Responsible for launch and promotion of new products
  • Travel with sales reps to existing and potential customers to identify trends and opportunities to curate a cohesive, brand right product assortment for our consumers
  • Analyze and report category performance and share with key stakeholders
  • As the product expert, you will communicate product and program details to both internal and external customers
  • Create long term relationships with key retailers to help with product development

We’re looking for a Maintenance Technician to join our team! The Maintenance Technician will perform mechanical equipment maintenance and repairs for the overall maintenance of the facilities, grounds and equipment at Pleasant View Gardens. You will also address maintenance tasks and responsibilities for the greenhouse operating systems. All tasks are expected to be completed in an organized, timely and cost effective manner. To succeed in this role, you should be a self motivated team player with a positive outlook, solid work ethic and strong communication skills.

Requirements and job responsibilities:

  • General knowledge and exposure to industrial electrical work
  • Ability to construct office and operational areas, from stud walls to drywall
  • Knowledge of plumbing and irrigation systems
  • Exposure to equipment operation and maintenance (forklifts and scissor lifts, etc…)
  • Repair and maintenance of greenhouse facilities
  • Follows OSHA regulation and company safety policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaborate with all levels of the organization.
  • Required to be on a rotating schedule (off hours and/or weekends) to respond to events, emergencies and incidents.

Education / Experience Required:

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of related experience

The Groundskeeper position will be responsible for landscaping and grounds-keeping activities for Pleasant View Gardens’ properties. This position requires the ability to anticipate work that needs to be done and attention to detail. During the Fall and Winter, the Groundskeeper will work on special projects with Maintenance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Mowing, watering, mulching, digging and raking on a daily basis
  • Flower bed maintenance
  • Fall clean-up
  • Snow removal, shoveling, sanding/salting
  • Daily cleanup of tools and job site
  • Assisting with other departments as needs dictate
  • Work with maintenance during the fall and winter on special projects

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to operate a zero turn mower, a power back blower, and power trimmers
  • Reliable and motivated to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Must possess knowledge in lawn care tools/equipment maintenance
  • Must be able to work occasional weekends as needed
  • Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs. without assistance
  • Willingness to learn how to operate heavy equipment (forklifts/tractors)

Grow your passion at Pleasant View Gardens! We’re looking for a landscaping professional to join our team. This is a full time / year round position! You’ll spend the summer landscaping our grounds and working in our display garden. And in the winter you’ll work with our Maintenance Team on a variety of jobs best suited to your skills.

Landscaping responsibilities from April – November include:

  • Utilizing proper planting and pruning techniques for large trees, shrubs, perennials, and annuals
  • General upkeep of all landscape areas through weeding, edging and mulching
  • Installing and maintaining drip irrigation systems
  • Spring and Fall property clean up
  • Maintaining & leading an overall safe work environment by using Personal Protective Equipment
  • Supporting our R&D team with overall gardening operations in our Display Garden.

Maintenance responsibilities from November – March:

  • Snow removal, shoveling, sanding and salting
  • Assisting with Greenhouse maintenance and construction as needed
  • Property maintenance for housing owned by Pleasant View Gardens
  • Assist with the operation of the Biomass Boiler System
