At Pleasant View Gardens, the HR Generalist is part of a three person team responsible for the Human Resources department. The ideal candidate for this role will have strong recruiting skills coupled with general knowledge of human resources and the desire to learn.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Provide full lifecycle recruitment services: job description maintenance, advertising, networking, job fairs, screening, interviewing, job offers and orientation
  • Guide department managers on decision and actions relating to hiring
  • Conduct testing, reference screening and background check
  • Onboarding / orientation: ensures that all employee forms/documentation are completed for activating employment
  • Develop Position Job Standards and Job Descriptions
  • Maintains all company Driver’s files (per DOT compliance)
  • Department Budget: tracking/monitor line items related to: recruiting, employee recognition, company meetings, referrals, pre-employment checks
  • Responsible for reporting and handling all Worker’s Compensation claims
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of employee events/functions
  • Participate on the Safety Committee.
  • Schedule training classes for employees related to CPR/ first Aid, Forklift certification and other classes as needed
  • Assist with the administration of the company’s H2A program
  • Cross training in other HR functional areas

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Current working knowledge of employment laws and the ability to interpret those laws
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management and employees
  • High level of interpersonal skills, integrity and the ability to keep information confidential
  • High level of attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines
  • Ability to work independently
  • Sound judgment and discretion are essential
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications and recruiting software. Knowledge of HRIS systems preferred but not required

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of related experience
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and/or equivalent work experience is required
  • SHRM – CP or PHR preferred but not required

The R&D Trial Manager at Pleasant View Gardens is responsible for growing and refining the Proven Winners® and Pleasant View Gardens product assortments by trialing and selecting new plant genetics as part of the Proven Winners® North American Trial Team. In this role, you will represent Pleasant View Gardens on and off-site, and be an active participant in all required Proven Winners® functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Management and evaluation of indoor and outdoor variety trials in Loudon, NH, and participation in all Proven Winners® North American trial team travel including breeder and off-site trial visits.
  • Execution of the Proven Winners® trial process including targeted data collection, effective record keeping, and presentation of findings to management, ownership, and the new product development team.
  • Oversee and manage all indoor and outdoor variety trials at Pleasant View Gardens
  • Visit breeding companies, breeders and off-site trials.
  • Follow all PW trialing processes including scheduling, data collection, and data entry
  • Present potential plant/program introductions to PVG’s owners, sales, marketing, and operations teams; and communicate findings to owners and staff at the annual Selections meeting
  • Oversee and coordinate all sourcing and licensing information with PVG production planning. Work with the trials coordinator to maintain the R&D database.
  • Ensure that the most thorough, appropriate, and necessary safety practices and procedures are followed

  • Strong, professional, and effective interpersonal communication and leadership skills
  • Possess excellent organizational skills and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to establish priorities. High attention to detail
  • Proficient computer skills: Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel 35% per year

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in horticulture or related field required.
  • 3-5 years of horticulture sales/marketing or horticulture research is preferred

The Maintenance Technician will perform mechanical equipment maintenance and repairs for the overall maintenance of the facilities, grounds and equipment at Pleasant View Gardens. You will also address maintenance tasks and responsibilities for the greenhouse operating systems. All tasks are expected to be completed in an organized, timely and cost effective manner. To succeed in this role, you should be a self motivated team player with a positive outlook, solid work ethic and strong communication skills.

Requirements and job responsibilities:

  • General knowledge and exposure to industrial electrical work
  • Ability to construct office and operational areas, from stud walls to drywall
  • Knowledge of plumbing and irrigation systems
  • Exposure to equipment operation and maintenance (forklifts and scissor lifts, etc…)
  • Repair and maintenance of greenhouse facilities
  • Follows OSHA regulation and company safety policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaborate with all levels of the organization.
  • Required to be on a rotating schedule (off hours and/or weekends) to respond to events, emergencies and incidents.

Education / Experience Required:

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of related experience
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to be certified on heavy equipment including forklifts, tractors and scissor lifts

As a full time, CDL A Driver, you’ll join a Logistics Team that is dedicated to excellent customer service by delivering products in a professional and efficient manner.

CDL A Drivers will operate vehicles safely, and keep organized and accurate records. Inform Logistics Coordinator and/or appropriate Pleasant View Gardens (PVG) staff when problems arise; meet personal goals and the business goals of Pleasant View Gardens. Communicate in an effective & professional manner with appropriate PVG staff and customers

  • Map out and organize daily delivery routes and follow delivery schedules
  • Safely operate the equipment necessary (cages, load bars, straps, pallet jacks, maps and GPS units) for successful delivery of orders to Pleasant View’s customers
  • Unload trucks when returning from runs; load vehicles when necessary
  • Complete and keep DOT logs, records and run sheets up-to-date
  • Document shortages and discrepancies and provide this information in a timely manner to appropriate logistic team member
  • Establish, maintain and strengthen professional communication with customers
